Other Species

Each year there are a few reports of other species in Somerset & Bristol.

While some of these individuals may represent rare migrants or imported species, others are considered most likely to have resulted from the release or escape of captive-reared butterflies.

The list below indicates some of the butterfly species that have been reported very rarely in Somerset during the period from 2000-2020.

Duke of Burgundy and Wood White were previously resident in Somerset, but are now considered extinct in our region having not been reported for a number of years.
