Bannerdown Common

Bannerdown Common is owned by The Batheaston Freeholders Association and is a Nature Conservation area managed under a Natural England Countryside Stewardship Agreement. 

Overview

Bannerdown Common is about 1 mile North East of Batheaston. The Common is “Open Access” land which means you are free to roam, on foot, wherever you wish.

Key Species

Butterflies: Large Skipper, Small Skipper, Dingy Skipper, Marbled White, Purple Hairstreak.

Orange-tip, Peacock, Speckled Wood, Small White, Dingy Skipper

Autumn

Comma, Speckled Wood, Red Admiral

Directions

Head north-east out of Batheaston on the Bannerdown (Roman) Road (road to Colerne).

Access on foot, from Batheaston village, is straight up Fosse Lane.

Limited roadside parking on Bannerdown/Roman Road.
