Adonis Blue (Polyommatus bellargus)
There are occasional reports of sightings of Adonis Blues from the Mendips and the Poldens but no established colonies have been found subsequently and it is thought that these records are the result of unreported releases of captive-reared specimens.
Adult males are a distinctive metallic blue but the females are vey much like female Chalk Hill Blues and the caterpillars of both species feed on Horseshoe Vetch.
