Small Pearl-bordered Fritillary Boloria selene

Scattered in the Mendips, the Blackdowns and on Exmoor in damp grassy, woodland or moorland sites where there are Violets, the caterpillar foodplants. On the wing from late May to early July, the males usually fly low when searching for the females, with spurts of quick wing-beats interspersed by longer glides.
