Green Hairstreak (Callophrys rubi)

The most widely distributed of the four hairstreak species in the county, using a wide variety of larval foodplants, Green Hairstreaks are very easy to overlook with rather drab brown upperwings and are very well camouflaged when at rest with their wings closed.  Even so, freshly-emerged adults in May have a beautiful green underwings and are well worth seeing.
