Duke of Burgundy (Hamearis lucina)

   

Now rare and declining nationally.  Until recently they could still be found at a handful of sites in the Blackdowns and Poldens, where primrose or cowslips grow in sheltered, lightly shady clearings. Patient searching was needed to find them as numbers were usually low. The sexes are similar
