Dark Green Fritillary (Argynnis aglaja)

A butterfly of lightly or infrequently grazed unimproved pasture where Violets are present, found at scattered sites mainly in the Mendips but also on the Poldens and Exmoor. The males are tireless and strong-flying in their search for females, only rarely or briefly settling at nectar plants.
